Love Fest! Woohoo!

Hello everyone, I thought I would pop on for a quick update as to what's been happening here.  This month I've been playing along with Split Coast Stampers Love Fest Challenges and have make a few cards this week.  Just click the blue link for all the challenges, and there is still time to play along with one or all of the challenges!

Here are a few projects I made this week.

And finally today, my workspace.  I'm just getting ready to work on a post for a blog hop Friday all about pocket scrapbooking so my workspace is my computer.  But as far as projects go I have some ATC's that need to be finished so they are up next.  And I may do a page with that photo.  Just because it's cute:)  And there is my Studio Calico color theory cards because they are just awesome!

And what have I been doing with my color theory cards you ask....
I've been getting my inspiration/resource book all ready for the Studio Calico Color Theory class to start in March.  Here is a sneak peak of my book.  There are only a few more days to register is you are interested would love for you to join me:)

In the process of making my book I cleaned out my ink drawer and know what colors inks I need and what colors I'm good with.  As you can see I think I'm good with red.  But don't have a single light pink!  That will be remedied soon!

Have a great week!

Getting back into the swing of putting photos in albums!

Hello everyone!
 Happy Friday!
I'm starting off my weekend with scrapping some Valentines Photos.  One of my goals this year is to do at least one page in my Project Life album per month.  This month was easy because Valentines day gave me lots of pretty pictures.  And the pictures worked great for the very first Papertrey Ink Monthly Moments kit.

And that's what I've got for today.

Thanks for stopping by and have a fabulous weekend!

Another card challenge, and this time a matching envelope!

My second post for Valentine's Day!
I couldn't let the day go by without a card for the Papertrey Ink's final Anniversary celebration.

The challenge was to make a special delivery by making your envelope to match your card.

I made this card starting with the inspiration from this sketch at the

Birds of a Feather Lovebirds Crop! It's all about Love Challenge!

Happy Valentines Day everyone!
I'm so excited to get to post this page, it was so fun taking the photo for this page.  My daughter and I did photo collages for our Valentines this year and yesterday we ventured out in the snow to take a few pictures.  I just love the perfect white back drop the fresh snow adds to a picture.

This challenge was to use at least 5 hearts on your page.  That was rather easy, even though they are very soft in this page.  The patterned paper are from PL kit Flea Market edition.  The paint and embellishments are from the Birds of a Feather February Kit.

And there it is, my Love layout on this Day of  Love!

100 X 100 31

Today I am playing again playing along with the festivities for Papertrey Ink's 7th Anniversary Celebration.  I thought I would use a set I haven't used often.  But I think is so pretty.  It is a limited edition set from CHA 2010 called Four of a Kind.

I stamped the image on vellum. I love the white on white look.
And who would think to use orange and green? But I love how it turned out.
This card is off to the PTI warehouse to thank them for taking such great care of us customers and wish them a very happy birthday PTI style!

So this is the challenge...
http://nicholeheady.typepad.com/capture_the_moment/

As you can see, many of the projects today were all about birthdays!  Now it's your turn!  Take some of the inspiration you have gained so far this week and create a birthday card for Papertrey!  We would love to see both your card and a photo of you holding your card!  Not only would this give you TWO entries for one card, but these photos will also be combined with Papertrey stories shared in the comments section to create a special slideshow at the end of the celebration!
You are also encouraged to mail your card to our warehouse employees in Cincinnati so we can create a heartfelt display board for them to enjoy each day while they are picking and packaging your packages!  It isn't very often that they get to see what all of the crafty supplies are used for and it would bring a huge smiles to their faces!

So...for the second part of the challenge....Here is me holding my card...no I didn't do my hair, put make up on or even my contacts.  And that's how snow days are supposed to be!

Enough of that crazy stuff for now!
See you soon!

Birds of a Feather February Reveal!

Hello everyone!
I'm so excited to share my first projects with this months kit.  The kit is simply stunning.  The perfect mix of colors to scrap all your Valentine memories, or even just everyday memories of the things you love most!

For my first page I scrapped a fun photo of my husband and I on our last cruise.  For the background I used the kit cardstock and spattered it with the distressed paint.  I like to splatter but often find the paint is to thick.  For this project I used equal amount of water and paint and splattered with a stiff paint brush.

I changed things up a bit with the focal point of this page.  Here is a close up of the cluster of embellishments around the photo.

Have you made something special for your Valentine?
This year for Valentines Day we are going out to dinner with my daughter and her new friend.
We have met him before but have never spent any time with him so I thought I would make everyone little Valentines to take along.  This is the first one.

You can see more of this months reveal HERE.
And chat with us about it HERE!
And see the kit contents HERE!
Have a great day!

Birds of A Feather Kit Guest Post

Hello everyone!
I'm so excited to be guest designing this month for Birds of a Feather Kits.
You can see the original blog post on the Birds of a Feather Gallery site here.

I thought I would start off the month with a quick and easy way to add a little extra sparkle to your pocket page projects, cards or layouts.

What you will need is:
Clear card protector
baseball card protector, or recycled packaging from your kit.
Small die cuts, sequins, or the pretty red florets from this months kit.
 Sewing Machine or decorative tape.

Place your little treasures in the clear envelope.  Measure to the size you need.  I made this 3X4.
Then sew around the outer edges and trim any excess envelope.

And there you have a quick and easy embellishment to add a little sparkle to your projects!

I'll share my finished project with this later in the month!

One of the things I like to do is find new ways to use products I already have in my stash.
Let's combine the shaker embellishment idea along with some PL type cards and see what happens!

What you will need is:
List from above
PL type cards
Hole punch or dies to make window.
Card base.
Patterned paper
Foam dimension adhesive
And sentiment stamps or dies

Let's get started!

For the card base I used a Coordination's Card Base then added one of my 4X6 PL cards cut down to size and rounded the corners.  I also rounded opposite corners of the card base

Next,  punch or die cut the window in the card that you will use for the front.  Cover the back side of the card with your clear plastic.  Then add foam dimension adhesive around the window and fill with small embellishments.  Cover the embellishments with another sheet of clear plastic.
(I used packaging and just cut it down to a 2.5" X 3" piece)

To finish the card I added a die cut hello sentiment across the front.
Then tied the bottom with a piece of twine and fussy cut the flower from another PL card
and adhered it with foam adhesive.

Give it a try and be sure to share what you make in the Birds of a Feather Gallery.

I'll be back on the 7th with my first project made with this months fabulous kit!

Have a great day,
Joyce

100 X 100 21-24

I've been busy working on pen pal packages and project life kits. This is a PL kit for a swap I'm in at twopeasinabucket.  I never know how that name should be written. Lol

100 X 100 20

And yet another project for today:)

I made this card using this sketch.

100 x100 20

I played along with this weeks StampTV challenge.  The challenge was to keep it CAS.  Clean and Simple.  So that is exactly what I did.  You can't go wrong with the stamp set GKD Stampers Favorites.  It truly has become my favorite.  The sentiment is also GDK from the set Elegant Florals.  If you haven't checked out GKD clear sets recently, take a look.  They are awesome!

100 X 100 18 & 19

Today I'm playing along with the crop at Birds of a Feather.  I managed to get 2 projects done.
The first is a card challenge.  The challenge is to use fussy cutting.
I left it sentiment free so I can add it when I know what I'm going to use it for.

The second challenge was to use the following...

W - Wood Veneer
I - Initials
N - Numbers
T - Two Pictures
E - Envelope
R - Red
I combined this challenge with the Studio Calico sketch.

And this is my page.

I used Studio Calico boardwalk kit combined with SC wonderlust line.

For me the envelope was the hardest item to fit into the sketch.
I'm still not sure the page is finished or if I'll keep the envelope.
We will revisit in a few days.

100 X 100 #16

I made these tags with GKD heavy weight cardstock for the base, and vellum for the top layer. The tag is a silhouette cut.  I added sequins to the base layer. Then stamped the image on the yellow tag with heart blooms onto vellum using white ink. Then stamped the flower with white on wild dandelion cardstock and fussy cut just the large bloom. Finished the tag with gems, seem binding and twin.
For the green tag I used the same method but stamped the image from Stipple Nature in green ink on the vellum.
These tags are for the GKD guest dt call to make a set of at least 2 tags.
Come on over to StampTV and play along with this weeks challenges!

100 X 100 #14

Hello everyone!  I put my Silhouette Cameo to work for this card.  I started by cutting the card base, then added a layer of GKD patterned paper.  I made cut files for the leaves in the GKD Fall Foliage set.  I then cut, stamped and heat embossed the leaves in various fall colors.  I finished the front of the card with ribbon, twine and a button.  The sentiment is on the inside of the card and says "When I count my blessings I count you twice".

This card is for the GKD guest design team call to make a shaped card.

Thanks so much for commenting, your comments really do mean the world to me!

I made today's card for the Stamp TV It's Your Time to Shine Challenge. The challenge is to do whatever you like, but to add something shiny.  I am totally in love with this feather stamp from the Stampers Favorites. I used the sketch from CAS(e) this sketch #59.  The cardstock is GKD elegant eggplant, ink is Momento, PTI button, Websters Twine, and gems from Queen and Co. And Simon Say Monday challenge is anything goes!

Thanks so much for stopping by! Happy Monday!

Spent today putting some photos into an album.  I'm trying to get back to scrapping on a regular basis. I've joined a photo print site to get my photos printed monthly so I don't have to wait to order them.  We will see how that works.

I also spent some time getting my next letter and photos ready to mail to my PenPal.  She has a daughter so I plan on sending some fun things along for as well.

Hope you are having a wonderful Sunday!

This is my ninth card this year made from an envelope swap at 2 Peas In a Bucket.  AJ sent me this cute Stamin Bella, Winlona Loves Winter that I colored with copic markers.  I layered the perfectly matched papers she included and finished with a button and twine.

This card was perfect for the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge, so I linked up there as well:)

Hope you are enjoying winter as well!

Hello everyone!

Today's card is for the first challenge in the GKD guest designer call at Stamp TV.
I just love how awesome GKD sentiments are with the clear sets. I think it's awesome that you get sayings and quotes and not just single words.
The first challenge was to use the emboss resist technique.

I used the small sunflower in the Stately Flowers 5 to stamp and emboss resist the bottom portion of the card. I then hand cut some banners to make a fringe from Grateful Heart 6. I then made a cut file for the large sunflower, cut and stamped it in Momento Dark Chocolate ink and colored with various copic markers. The stamped sentiment is also from Stately Flowers 5. I added a few gems to finish the card. The cardstock is GKD white, and Faded Brick.
The cardstock and patterned paper match perfectly!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

I made this card from a envelope swap at two peas. For the swap you make 2 kits, one to keep, one to mail.  This kit will be headed out to my swap partner Monday.  Maybe she will play along with the MFT color challenge as well.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great week!

4 days in and going strong, although it is 11:05 pm that I'm posting.  Let's hope I can get a few cards ahead soon!

I made this card for the new MFT color palatte challenge.  The challenge is to use MFT colors of pink, black and white.  This card is clean and simple but the colors are so vibrant I think it just works.

Thanks for stopping by and see you tomorrow!

This weeks Make It Monday challenge was to make an angled paper background for your project.  I used PTI patterned paper to make the background, then covered it with velum and finished by sewing the edge with a zig zag stitch.  I angled the card in hopes you would be able to see the velum.  In real life it gives it a soft muted color to the paper.  The stamp and die are also PTI.
Have a great day!

Well 2 days and I'm still keeping to my only resolution this year.  I made this lovely little card with a MFT mask inked with a copic air brush.  I thought I had ordered the stamp set to match but the set I have wasn't of roses.  So I added to my wish list for after my 100 day use what I have challenge is complete.  I love how clean and simple, yet soft and elegant this card turned out.

Thanks so much for stopping by and have an awesome day!

Happy New Year!

So today is the big day!  The very first day of the rest of your life!  What do you plan to do with it?  I'm not big on resolutions, but I do like a good challenge.  So to start off the new year my plan is to spend a little time each day in my craft room.

First, I am taking the 100 projects in 100 days challenge at Split Coast Stampers.  And so far so good!  I have my first project to share with you right now.

This is the first file I made and cut with my Silhouette Cameo.  I'm having so much fun learning how to use the machine and hope to make cut files for all my favorite stamp sets.  These stamps are MFT Happy Harvest, and the little acorn is from Fall Foliage.  I know it looks a little fallish but I tend to make whatever I feel like when I feel like it and just couldn't wait to finally color this little cutie:)

My Second thing I plan to do this year is take a photo every day. I hope to not only take a photo but to print and get them into a book.  I hope to share those pages as I complete them.

Lastly I have a Pen Pal from the Studio Calico Forums.  Her name is Megan and by teaming up we hope to share inspiration to help getting some Project Life pages documented.  How fun is that! I can't wait to get to know Megan.  It's hard to keep from dropping quick emails, but the main goal is to actually have an old fashioned type Pen Pal and get things in the mail to her.

Lastly, I thought I would share with you a few of my December photos.
Ed and I getting ready for a Christmas party.  With the newest member of our little family.

Ashlyn and Jaec sharing a Christmas morning smile.

Me and Ashlyn in our Christmas morning pajamas:)
Yes we love Santa!
