Impression Obsession In The Pink Challenge

Hello everyone,
Thanks so much for stopping by.
I've done the near impossible for me today.  I made a sympathy card.
I just can never make them on the spot.  I always second guess myself.
So today I set down with the need to finally get this one done.  It's only way late!
But better late then never, I hope!

I started by pulling out my glitter water colors.  I chose this gorgeous rambling rose image from Alesa Baker Designs, Impression Obsession.  I stamped the image with black ink and embossed with white embossing powder.  It took on this awesome embossing, it looks almost antique.
I then painted with just two colors of water color glitter ink.  In real life these roses just sparkle.

I added some splatter with the water color dirty water.  I like to keep my rinse water in a little dollar store ice cube tray. I find I like using the diluted color to add dimension and splatter.

For the sentiment I cut the word prayers from a Simon Says Stamp die.
Then I used just part of a sentiment by Dina Kowal.
I have to give a shout out to Dina here because when I first saw this sentiment I knew I needed it.  Dina had commented she might cut it apart to use it for more then just the holiday season. I had mentioned that I would just mask it off because I'm not brave enough to cut my stamps.  So I used my sticky notes and stamped just part of the sentiment. Then added the double layer die cut.

To finish, I added a natural element of twine.

And there you have it.  Now to work on my stash of sympathy cards before I actually need one.

I'm playing along with the Impression Obsession blog challenge In the Pink.

Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope you have a great day!

Impression Obsession All About Love challenge

Starting to get ready for Valentines Day.
I made this card for the Impression Obsession All About Love challenge.
This is such a great challenge to play along with, I mean think about it, any card you make to send your sending with love. So why not link up to the Impression Obsession blog for a chance to win?

I used Julee's Mojo Monday sketch #507.

Some simple paper layering give this card a vintage feel.

I added some twine and button to finish.

I hope you make some cards to share the love!

SugarPea Designs Mix It Up Challenge January 2009

Did you know it's national handwriting day?
I love writing. Ok, not like writing books, but I wish I could.
It's writing, like pick up a pen, some cute stationary and write a letter. When was the last time you did that? I do that weekly, sometimes several times a week.  I have this thing for fountain pens.  I have a nice little collection and I love to write with them.  I have several pen-pals, some who are friends that like making cards and some are friends that love fountain pens. But either way I love sending and getting mail.  So happy handwriting day.  #writeme and if you do I will be sure to write you back!

Today I decided to play along with the SugarPea designs Mix It Up Challenge.
I chose to use the sketch portion of the challenge.
I pulled out this cute little gopher and colored it with copic markers.
I layered it on paper that I used to represent the lines in the sketch.

I used the copic blending solution on a cloth and dabbed over the soil and fur to add texture.
And as you can see this cute little gopher is digging up some pretty red gems for his sweetheart.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Happy Winter Friends!

My house is still sporting it's winter snowmen. I love snowmen so I will keep them out as long as possible! It's funny how snowmen can make the house feel so warm.  Here in TX this is likely to be the only snow I will see.  That's fine with me, but if it's going to be cold I prefer it to have a bit of snow.  Although, 70 degree days are certainly nice in January!

Today's project is made for the SplitCoast Stampers swap chicks group.  This month Jeanette sent us this snowman kit to make our projects.  I colored this cute little man with copic markers.  It was super quick to color with just a few colors.

I used the sketch challenge at SplitCoast to for the card design.  SC731 I took some creative liberties and made it my own.  I love how it turned out.

The twine make the bottom panel pop.  I love the colors!

My swap friends are the best!
Thanks Jeanette!

Are you keeping warm?

Hello Friends,
Are you keeping warm this winter? Or is it summer where you are at?
If it is, I want to come and visit! We are well into winter here with lots of cloudy, cold days.  I relish in the days that hit over 65, but they are few and far between.

Today's card is a cute little igloo, ready to keep these cute little penguins warm.

I started this card by using a cloud mask and sponging over the clouds.
Then I stamped random snowflakes to finish the background.
I tore paper and sponged snow banks for the bottom.

I only used half of the igloo on this card, so you may be seeing another card with the other half soon!

I finished the card by adding a sentiment and some colored lights just waiting to be put on the tree.
You could easily skip the lights and use this card any time of year.
Who doesn't love penguins!

The Cat's Pajamas Valentine Penguin

Hello Crafty Friends!
Are you getting ready to celebrate all those you love? I sure am, and I'm starting with this cute little Penguin from The Cat's Pajamas.

I started by using  Mojo Monday Sketch 505, and created the base for my card. I added some neutral twine to add a touch of a natural element and button.  I still love using buttons on my cards!

I used copic markers to color and add some shading.
The sentiments are from the same TCP stamp set.

I finished the card by adding this sentiment to the inside of the card.
And there you have it, my first Valentine card for this year and I'm more then a month early! Woohoo!

Have a great day and thanks for stopping by!
