Tonights PTI Blog Hop

Since we just finished up our 3rd Anniversary Festivities, we thought we would do something extra
special for this month's Blog Hop!  Design Team Appreciation Day!  Your challenge is to go through the
Design Team gallery or any of the Design Team Members' blogs and find a project that is especially
inspirational to you!  Then recreate the project with your own spin, making it unique!  Be sure to share a
link and photo of the original project that inspired you!  And you can also use this opportunity to thank
the team for all their contributions this past year!  I know they inspire ME daily and I never seem to thank
them enough!  We look forward to seeing your projects!

My inspiration came from the idea of giving some crafty goodness to some of my friend for their Birthdays this month.  Dawn McVey had a cute idea to give little buttons made into match packs as well as I loved the coloring of her flowers so make sure to stop by her blog and leave her some love.

A few years ago I made an advent box with match boxes and thought it would be fun to turn it into an embellishment center for some pre threaded buttons.   I made it much smaller with only 8 match boxes, but it turned out way cute!

Today's PTI Challenge

Yikes! What a day we are having at our house.  Ashlyn had leg surgery yesterday and today my husband is sick with the fllu.  I'm running between floors to try to keep them both somewhat at rest.  Anyway....it took me all day to get this one card in so here goes....
Today's PTI challenge was this:
Today we are issuing a very special challenge in honor of Asian Fusion and it's origins!  Your challenge is to create a project that somehow integrates origami of some sort or another.  I have listed a few of my favorite tutorials below for you to start with if you like, but feel free to use one of your own as well.
1. Make a project using some form of origami. It can be an element used for a focal point, something incorporated into the actual card base or even packaging created from origami (like a box or small bag)...
2. Upload a photo of your project to you blog or online gallery.
3.  Add the link for your photo to the Mister Linky box below.
4.  Those that leave a comment about what they think about Asian Fusion and the projects here today, will also be eligible to win.  Those that create a project link in Mister Linky AND comment will have an extra entry. Only one comment per person please.
PEM Origami has an amazing website dedicated to video tutorials for this craft.
I really like the Origami-Fun website, and I think you will too.  I especially like her box tutorials.  If you are too nervous about incorporating origami into a card project, create an origami box and then have fun decorating it!
Origami Club has some super fun things as well.  I personally have used this "cup" tutorial several times to make little candy holders, or even incorporated it into a card's interior to hold a gift card or cash.
NetflixOrigami started out as a bit of a joke, with an artist using Netflix envelopes as his medium.  But now there are several great, easy to read tutorials for simple origami there that are super-duper user friendly.
So there's a few things to get you started!  I am sure you will find something that inspired you after browsing all of these links!
Although my card is quite simple I did use paper folding to create my frame for my image.
My Recipe:

Stamp: PTI Everyday Button Bits
Buttons: PTI vintage buttons, and a heart shaped button (not sure where that one is from)
Paper: Card Stock PTI, PP Little Yellow Bicycle
Ink: Momento Tuxedo Black

Our week....

I just thought I would share the photos from Ashlyn's trip to the ER this week.  She tore the tendon that holds her tib-fib together and they separated.  It was actually much worse the second day with swelling and black and blue.  She goes for surgery next week to have it repaired.  She is now in a cast from the knee down.  Ouch!

Happy Mail Day!

Today I got not one but 2 packages in the mail.

The first was the Valentine swap on the PTI messages boards.  Nadine sent me a yummy  box of chocolates from the Aloha state of Hawaii.  And this adorable card.  And notice the little hearts on the envy.  Very cute!  Thank you Nadine!

And the second was the wimsey jar swap on Tally Scrapper. My jar partner was Kathy and she sent me this jar filled with all kinds of goodies.  Thank you Kathy!

PTI January Blog Hop~The Total Package

The challenge:
During this month's release there was a lot of chatter about the interior of cards and how they don't
always get the attention they need. This month's challenge is to create a card that has the "total
package". Create any style card you can dream up, then take it the next step. Embellish the interior
and adorn the envelope. You might even want to add a little something to the back of the card! Be sure
to take photos of ever aspect so we can all be inspired with what you create! We can't wait to see what
you make!

My Take:
I had so much fun with this challenge!  I used stamps, copic air brush, spicas and of course my favorite PTI stamp set Vintage Picnic. Thanks for stopping by, and enjoy the hop!

Ha!

I was just thinking about a few friends tonight and wanted to get some cards out to them. I couldn't resist coloring this one that my dork friend Karen sent to me.

I used this sketch from Sketches by Tamara #103.  Thanks for a fun sketch Tamara!

PTI Princesses Challenge

Anya was first up to post a challenge for the blogging group for this year. She chose a beautiful photo for a color challenge. You can read more about the challenge on Anya's Blog

and this is my take on the challenge:

Recipe:
Stamps: In Bloom, Birthday Basics - Papertrey Ink
Cardstock: Vintage Cream- Papertrey Ink
Patterned Paper: Amy Butler K&Co
Ink: Momento

Sending My Love

I visited the 12 days of tags at The Classroom and was inspired to use some paints on my card today. I found my sketch at Crazy 4 Challenges C4C20 and this is what I came up with.

I started by mixing a dolop of MM waterslide paint, and Adirondack Lights snowcap paint and brushed on thickly. Then I use the PTI winter swirls snowflake stamps to lift some of the paint. I cleaned the snowflakes off between each use on a baby wipe. I let it dry completely and then added my Bobunny rubons, hearts and sentiment and ribbon. I finished the card by punching a strip of pp with the swiss cheese punch.

Cardstock: PTI
PP: Sweet Talk
Stamps: CTMH Say it in Style, PTI Winter Swirls, Studio G
Ink: Memento
Accessories: Offray ribbon, Bobunny rub-ons, PTI Vintage Button raspberry fizz, jute, rectangle nesties, EK swiss cheese punch.
