Hello everyone, It's beginning to finally look like winter in Pennsylvania and I'm loving it! the fresh snow puts me in the Christmas spirit, I can almost smell the cookies baking! one of my favorite treats for the holidays are shoe flake cookies. So....

I've been busily trying to fit in Christmas Cards between decorating, shopping, wrapping and the like, I'd like to share one with you. I hope it inspires you to make a fabulous holiday project and share it in the Paper Secrets gallery (you never know your project might be hightlighted on our blog!)

I love non traditional holiday colors, so for this project I chose soft colors in greens, pinks and blues. I used coredinations paper for the backgorund and Jilly Bean Soup for the trees. The trees are cricut cut.

Haveing a fabulous fall here, looking foward to the transition to winter weather! Colorado is already having snow and although I don't venture out in the snow much I sure do love how beautiful it is. And it puts me in the mood for Christmas decorating, and it doesn't get better then that!

My project for today was to add a little color to my white hoodie. It was such an easy project and I just love how it turned out. I had to photograph it on my manikin to show you how cute it is.

Pretty In the Park Studio Calico Challenge

I want you to think about the colors you see and scrap with them. Nature is the best inspirations and all the colors in nature go together beautifully wether it's the blues and whites of winter, the bright summer colors, or the reds and orange of fall. So what's the season where you live? Now it's up to you, pull out that phone, or calender or whatever it is you use to keep organized and pencil in an hour of scrap time!

Amish Auction - Bean Talk Sketch Challenge

Jillibean Soup posted a fun sketch on the blog as this weeks challenge. I thought these simple photos of the sumer Amish Auction would be perfect for the sketch. My husband loves going to auctions and sales and I love to tag along and take lots of photos. This auction was so fun. They had everything from farm machinery to gorgeous potted flowers. And every thing in between including cute little farm animals. I'll share some of those photos later but first here is my layout for the challenge.

Clean and Simple

I finally picked up my first Washi tape, and I have to say I still want it all! This is the Tim Holz tape on a white card base. The sentiment is Papertrey Ink.

This challenge from Scrapdango was to keep it clean and simple. I don't think it get's any more simple then this.

Card Recipe Challenge

I finally got things back together enough in my room to make a card for WCMD. I chose this challenge at Scrapdango.

This was the recipe:
A4 card (4.25" x 5.5")
4" x 5.25" piece of patterned paper
0.5" x 5.5" strip of cardstock
1 - Border strip (sticker or diecut)
1 - Chipboard piece
1 - Sticker
1 - shape punched from cardstock (i.e. circle, scalloped circle, butterfly, leaf...etc)
Adhesive
Mix these ingredients to your liking.

And this is what I came up with, using just scraps from my scrap box.

My new old book case

I really wanted to get rid of the plastic table in my scrap room. So we under took our first diy project to do just that this weekend. We started with an old book case my husband was just using for storage in the garage. We started by adding p board to the back, painting it white, added 3 extra shelves and finished it by adding crown molding to the top.

I think it trned out fabulous! I want to get a planter for the center top.

The top shlves are for my fabrics.

These containers contain my copics, colored pencils, acrylic blocks and glimmer mists.

Aren't these cute, they are actual jars from a doctors office. I'm missing oneof the lids, but love the vintage jars so I use them anyway.

These ae some random items. The little green box was found in my great aunts house. They are actually little letters that teachers used to use. On the right are my flower frogs, and the center is my Making Memoris distress kit. the photo boxes are for random items. One is filled with Prima flowers and one has extra sewing supplies. The last one is waiting for some love.

And my final area on the left is my cricut center. With the fabulous cover my friend Marie made me. Thanks again Marie!

This is the first CARDS magazine I was in, even though my name is spelled wrong.

and this is what it looked like before the make over. Actually it spent 2 years in the garage so it looked even worse then this photo.

I think it turned out fabulous. And we already have our next project planned which will be a desk for my sewing machine. I can't wait! I think my room is a work in progress, but organizing is almost as fun as creating. I love a neat space.

Paper Secrets Card sketch

Happy Wednesday!

I'm in full Halloween mode here, and trying to determine the venue for delivering my treats for this year. My first instinct was to use the cute little Paper Trey Ink Die to make felt contianers. They are really cute!

But after seeing one finished, it was kind of small. We treat our trick or treaters like we are the only ones giving them candy!

My second idea is to use a brown kraft bag. I love these little bags. I use them for everything, even on my pages. For this one I made a matching card using this months Paper Secrets Card Sketch Challenge.

Hope your taking some time today to get your scrap on! I know I'm having some fun in my scrap room and it's not scrapping, but we are doing a little DIY make over of an old book case making it into an embellishment cetner/ storage unit. My husband and I are having so much fun making trips to our favorite store (Home Depot) and getting painty. The book case started out just an old wood colored laminate and now it's almost transformed. I'll share that as soon as we get it moved in to my room and things put back together.

Today I'd like to share another project for this months challenges at Paper Secrets. First this card is for the Manufacturer Challenge. This month Rochelle chose Echo Park as her challenge. You can see more of the DT work HERE using EP!

I had some left overs on the sticker sheet for this line that I wanted to use. So I added it to a kraft base for a cute whimsical hello card.

Hello everyone, it's hard to believe September is here already. Although I have to admit it's my favorite time of the year. Here in PA we can have warm sunny days and beutiful cool evening.

It's perfect!

I'm having a hard time getting back into the swing of things after the weekend scrappying and playing at CK Scrap and Play in Lancaster. I had a great time! Thanks Barbara for taking me along.

I spent some time outside today. I thought the sun might give me a boost of energy. But I think all the weekds in my flowers zapped even more out of me. I hope that's the last time I have to weed this year.

When I came in I found my bananas not looking so pretty so I made a batch of Banana Blueberry muffins. They smell yummy! And look good too!

2/3 cup milk

1/4 cup vegetable oil

1/2 cup mashed very ripe banana (1 medium)

1 egg

2 cups cake flour

2/3 cup sugar

2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder

1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

1 cup fresh or frozen (thawed and well drained) blueberries

1. Heat oven to 400ºF. Place paper baking cup in each of 12 regular-size muffin cups, or grease bottoms only.

2. In large bowl, mix milk, oil, banana and egg with fork. Stir in remaining ingredients except blueberries just until flour is moistened. (Muffin batter should be lumpy. If you overmix the batter, muffins will be tough and have pointed, rather than rounded, tops.) Gently stir in blueberries. Divide batter evenly among muffin cups (cups will be almost full). Sprinkle with sugar if desired ( I use the sugar crystals and it gives them a nice crunch and shine)

3. Bake 18 to 20 minutes or until golden brown. Immediately remove from pan.

Hiking with Basic Grey Out of Print.

I'm working on some pages for my daughters summer 2011 album. She spent a day hiking at Ricketts Glen State park. It's a beautiful area with huge waterfalls, but the walk can be quite slippery when the rocks are went. Luckily they had a beautiful day and managed to make the entire climb. I'm so bummed I only have a few pics my daughter took of herself because her boyfriend said the camera looks expensive and he didn't want to break it! Ack! He now has a lesson on how to use the camera, and it's really much better for them to come home with her Momma having lots of fun photos to scrap. LOL

This page is with the wonderful new Basic Grey Out Of Print from the Studio Calico August kit. Which is fabulous!

It actually looks much brighter in person, more like the close ups. I love how the page turned out.

I think this will be my last post until after CK Scrap and Play in Lancaster this weekend. I hope to return with lots to share, and or at least lots of fun photos from the weekend. See you then!

New Camera Strap

I love instant gratifcation! And this is one easy project to give you just that. Tonight I was looking at my material and just thought my camera could use a strap cover before going to CK Scrap and Play next weekend. A girl's camera's gotta be all dressed up to hang with the girls, right!? (My husband says he is going to have to buy a new camera if he wants to take picture now).

OK, so my camer is finally dressed for summer and fall is on it's way, but I figure I'll get at least a month out of this design. If you would like a camera strap just send me an email with your choice of color and I'll put one together for you. I'll be putting some on my Etsy shop as I get them made. They will sell for around $12. shipping included.

Hello everyone, hope your having a fabulous day! I sure am. Very minimal house work and some scrappytime. Not to mention newly polished finger and toe nails. Can't beat that!

I actually have some art to share today as well. I received my first Studio Calico kit this week and couldn't wait to jump right in. Everything about the kits are fabulous. From the box they ship them in to the empherma cards that are included with the kits. (I know it's advertising on their part, but for me, they make perfect embellishments and are like getting a sneak peak of their new lines! Way cool!)

So I took on the Sunday sketch from the SC blog, the sketch is based on a page by Stephanie Howell and the sketch was created by Nicole S.

There was so much fun stuff in this kit. Let me try to tell you what all I used.

The background paper is Sassafrass. It's so darn cute and comes with a decorative trim across the bottom so you can even use what is normall salvage. Very cool!

Starting at the top left circle, I used a Martha Stewart Scalloped circle punch to punch from a post card that was included in the kit. Next from the Tide Pool add on I used Batic from BG with "Ashlyn" letters from exclusive SC Sassafrass letters. Then mroe Batic form BG along with a BG Out for Print glazed brads.

Next I used the Pink Paislee mistables and MME twine to make this gathered flower. Then I misted it with Bell Bottom Jeans Tattered Angels Mist. To the top right, I used another one of the Batic and the Lime Twist Spring Twine from MME to make this cute little embellishment. Next is a punched circle from a post card that was in the kit. Logan is on a BG Batik and the last batik I stamped with versamark with the SC frame stamp and then heat embossed with Enamelz Molten Metal. I used SC Teal song and BG Out of Print Mish Mash under the photos. Lastly I misted the FACE letters (Pink Paislee Mistables) with various mists and finished the page with an American Krafts adhesive chalk lables.

Paper Secrets Design Team!

Hello everyone,
I happy to announce I'll be joining the Paper Secrets Design Team for the next few months. We have tons of fun things planned for you. This month is chocked full of fun challenges with lots of inspiration from the new team. And next month we will be right on top of fall festivities with a back to school blog hop with tons of prizes. Masking is one of my all time favorite techniques. You can use masking with so many different mediums. I challenge you to make your own mask and use masking in a unique way on your card, page or altered item. Your mask can be as simple as punching circles and using the negative for your back ground or more intricut fussy cut or machine cut mask. I woul love to see you use both the positive and negative of your mask on your project. I can't wait to see how you use masking.

For this card I created a simple square mask to use. First I used the small square in the center and my copic air brush to add some orange color to the kraft cardstock. Then I used the larger square around the outside to stamp my images. You can use repositional tape to hold your mask in place.

I spent the last few days making tags for wedding ceter pieces and adding them to my Etsy shop. I love stamping and take any opportunity to add items to my shop. In addition to adding these tags to my shop I also am making things for a craft fair and yard sale next month. It's kept me busy the last few days. But I know it will be well worth the efforts.

These are the tags for the wedding. They will be tied on mason jars that will hold daisies for the centerpieces. The perfect centerpiece for a country outdoor wedding.

I started a scrappy frenzy on Friday when I got to gether with Ellen and Andrea. They are so full of scrappy inspiration it just spills out of them. Anyway it seem I brought some home with me because I've been diving in ever since. Today Ingrid posted a new sketch for this week at The Nook. I didn't just make one card from the fabulous sketch I made 4 and a matching tag.

I used beautiful blooms and kissed the flower with the smaller doilies. Sorry you can't see it better, it looks better irl.

Challenge 8-I thought I would challenge you to create a card with an front cover that is cut back by an inch or so. The extra lip invites you to add a sentiment, a strip of patterned paper, a bit of glitter, just so many opportunities!

It would be so nice to be stamping with all my PTI friends at the first PTI Stamp A Faire, but I didn't get registered beore they all sold out! It must be a fantastic day though. I know I had fun yesterday stamping with my local friends, and I continue the fun today doing some of the PTI challenges posted on Nicoles blog today.

Hope everyone is having as much fun as I am checking out all the new scrappy supplies. I took advantage of this week to use of some of my stash.

These project are all with American Crafts. Now I've only got one sheet remaining and that sheet is called Joyce, you would think I could cut my own paper! LOL

For some other fun news this week. I am now a copic certified designer. Last week I traveled to NY with a few friends I met online and the wonderful Colleen Schaan taught the very quick class. I took a few photos of the group but the card with them is MIA so I'll post them when I find it.

I sure hope so anyway! It's been a crazy month, with a ton of time spent at the hospital with family who were ill. My Grandma passed away earlier this month, then my husband had surgery with some complications. He is doing much better, and says he's ready to get back to normal (although his dr says 2 weeks before he can drive, and thats just killing him!)

Anyway, I've decided it's time to get back on track and cut up some pretty papers and get a little inky with some stamps that need some love. I made my first card last night for a secret I've been keeping, and today I did a sketch challenge over at the Nook.

Humming Birds

A week or so ago Cindy over at Citrus Tree Studio posted that humming birds are migrating along the East coast now. I happened to mention that at my parents while an elderly neighbor was there and he sent over a hummingbird feeder for me. I put it out on Saturday and today I was out taking a photo of this card and was buzzed by a beautiful little humming bird. I was to slow to get a pic but trust me I'll be stalking that feeder now!

Let the celebrations begin! What an awesome week for us Mom's who are scrapbookers! I know I for some reason have been having a creative frenzy this week. I finished up another tote yesterday and today made some Mother's Day cards and even submitted a card to Papercrafts. I'm really trying to get better at submitting, but I only end up with about one a month that's good enough to submit.

So what are your plans for NSD? I plan on hanging with my laptop (aka all my scrappy friends!) and Andrea is coming to scrap! Yeah! I love scrapping with friends, they are such awesome motivation.

Not your average canvas tote!

I've been having a blast making ruffle totes, they are so much cuter then just canvas! And the best part is you can make them with just a few fat quarters or even scraps of material. There is no pattern because I just started playing and came up with the final project on my own. I've been using mine as a camera bag and went to a party last weekend and 2 of my aunts wanted one made so now I'm busy this week trying to get them done. Really put a hampering on my playing with paper this week, but I love sewing just as much.

Papertrey Ink Make It Monday Challenge

This weeks Make it Monday challenge is to use a line frame on your cards. Nicole demostrated how she makes a line frame. I do mine just a bit differently using a drawing ruler but the results turn out the same. I wanted to make a few masculine cards because I really don't have many in my stash. My Core'dinations Creative Frenzy Continues

So today I think I'm feeling a little Sweet and Sassy! What do you think?

First a little sweet Niki Silvis turtle...awwwwww......

I used 2 layersof core for the base. The first layer is white and the secod layer I distressed and added some chalk ink to add a little pop.

And a little bit Sassy with this Bombshell! This entire card is Coordinations. This is a great way to use up those little scraps you hate to get rid of. I bet you have some laying around you could use.

My Core’dinations Creative Frenzy

My Core'dinations Creative Frenzy started quite some time ago, but today I want to share with you a few projects for the Core dt call.

I started this page by choosing Webster's Pages patterned papers and the combining them with Core'dinations cardstock that was a perfect match off white on the front with a gorgeous yellow on the back. I matted my photo with the same paper with the white side showing.

I then used the cricut and cut flourishes from the Picturesque cartridge. I embossed the top layer of this flourished with the swiss dots folder and sanded the top layer. For the bottom flourish I reversed the cut and used the yellow side as the top layer. I added some color to the edges of the swirls with a yellow copic marker.

For these flowers I used the picturesce cricut cartridge and cut them at 2 and 3 inches. I embossed just the top layer of the flower with swiss dots and added some copic color to the edges and to the die cut lines.

I added dimension to the flourishes with foam dots. By using the back of the coordinations paper I was able to a add beautiful contrast.

I finished the flourishes by added some pearl dots.

I finished the project by addings a gorgeous May Arts Ribbon bow and vintage stick pins.

BINGO! I love the vintage look of bingo cards. I simply sanded the bingo card and used it for the base of my Birthday card. I combined it with Jenni Bowlin Studio papers and embellishments for a perfect match.

I used core'dinations for the base of this lay out. I slightly distressed the edges of the larger base paper. I then stitched around the patterned paper. For the larger flower embellishment I sanded it then inked the edges.

Here you can see how perfectly the core matches the MME papers.

Ok, so I realize it said 3 projects but I just love using Core'dinations so much and on everthing I have one more project to share today. I think I'm feelin' a little JBS vintage!

It's that time of the month. All the girls come out to play with their PTI products. For me I'm having an especially fun weekend as I'm spending my weekend at a Scrappy Retreat with 6 awesome gals. They all just love my Clip It Up filled with all my PTI stamps and dies and I love seeing what everyone can do with the same stamps.

On to the blog hop. This months challenge was to use embroidery floss. So I used dies to cut my flowers then laced them with pink floss. Love these little flowers and they were so fun to make.

Listen...hear that!? No fans or dehumidifiers! It's so nice and peaceful. If you don't look up, you wouldn't even know there is a huge hole in the ceiling. We are getting back to normal for a few days anyway until they start the remodel. I sure hope it goes quick!

Anyway today I've been doing a little scrapping and thought I'd share a few of my projects. First, I made this Birthday card for the JBS crop that is going on (actually they are all for the crop, even though not off of the product is JBS) I'm seriously hitting my old stash before I have to much of an urge to order new stuff!

Next is a lo of Ashlyn. The challenge was to use blue, brown and white. The the carstock is coordinations and the birds are cut from JBS paper. The punch is Martha stewart and I added a peom from MME. The birds and leavs are colored with copics.

And fianlly a Cosmo Cricket Lo for the garland challenge.

Just being a normal day, cleaning, laundry and the like to a total disaster! I got up and started a load of laundry, put cleaning stuff in the tub to clean the jets and went downstairs to have breakfast. When I came back up I folded a load of laundry and started the next, now I'm getting ready to clean when I notice a cloud of foam coming out of the bathroom! OMG! Dishwasher soap and clorox aren't suposed to make suds! It's how the directions say to clean the jets and I've been doing it that way for 5 years! Now let me start by saying this photo is after I walked in the bathroom with suds up to my chest and tried to get rid of some. When Ashlyn yelled water is coming through the lights downstairs I figured I might need a photo for insurance purposes!

To top things off the electrical outlets in the entire side of the house aren't working now!

If bad things happen in 3's, I'm in trouble!!!!!!

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you like challenges as much as I do and if you do play along and you could win some scrappy goodness from my studio!

I'm part of a wonderful little blog group called Papertrey Princesses. Each week one of the blog group posts a challenge for everyone to play along with. This is my week to post a challenge and I (we) would love for you to play along.

I love to use my art supplies in new ways. I also love challenges. So for todays card I combined several different challenges/techniques.

First, let me introduce you to the technique of paper piecing as found in the Paper Piecing Challenge in the Moxie Fab World. I want you to use at least 4 layers to create your project.

Second, I used sewing on my project to add some demension to the base layer of my project. Sewing is so fun, you can add a touch to your project by machine or by hand.

Third, this weeks Make it Monday challenge at Capture the Moment is to use a Vellum Sentiment strip on your project.

And finally I stamped my image with VersaMark, used off white embossing power and heat set the image. This provided an excellent medium to use my Glimmer Mist to paint the image. Isn't is Beautiful!

Hand Stamped Embellishment Swap/Moxie Fab Challenge

Today I spent some time carfting to make my little gifits for a handmade embellishment swap over at Cooking UP Scrapbooking. To package the swap goodies I use craft bags and stamped tags for them in coordinating colors. This was perfect to use up scraps of paper that I had laying on my table.

For the embellishments I use Papertrey Ink Friendship Jar Die and added a copic colored flower and tag to each jar. Then I made coordinating flowes to go along with them. Of cours a bow and buttons finsished these adorable embellishments. This was perfect because the Moxie Fab Challenge was to use markers on your projects.

I've spent the past few minutes doing something I hate to do in my craft room. (and it wasn't cleaning!) A very dear friend of mine has been having some struggles and dealing with ageing and ill family members and on top of surgeries and nursing homes and trying to take care of everything her Grandmother passed away yesterday. So I've spent the last hour making a very special sympath card. This wonder friend sent me this beautiful Tim Holtz, Natures Elements stamp set on Monday for my Birthday and I wanted to use it to make her card. Thanks you so much for the beutiful stamps and perfect card for my BIG day!

Traci, I'm so sorry for your loss and know that you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

I started with the PTI challenge to use one of the designers favorite color combos. I came as close as I could to Betsy Veldman's color choices and also lifted her beautiful design for the card. Thanks Betsy for the inspiration. You made this job a little easier.

I used my score pal to add texture to the background, then stamped the images and cut them out. I mounted the images on a Spellbiners Die cut and added a sentiment fromm PTI's last years Anniversary Set.

Webster's February Guest Designer!

I am absolutely overwhelmed, nervous, exited that Webster's asked me to guest design for them this month. I can't even tell you how fun it's been using some of their new lines as well as stamps. Spring Market is so fresh and pretty, quite a nice break from the weather we've been having. And Trendsetter is just over the top crafty girl fabulous! Here is a sneak peak of what you will see in the Webster's Gallery tonight along with an apron and gift set.

My daughters friend fixed it up for me and painted it. It's actually crackled painted but it's hard to see that in the photo. The knobs are original although he had to use new screws to attach them. I love how you can seee the dove tailing f the drawers. Thanks Justin, I love it!

Hello everyone and Happy New Year!

It feels like so long since I've posted, but everyone needs a vacation. Actually I think I need a vacation from my vacation. We ventured to Florida to Universal Studios and Adventure Islands to visit the new Harry Potter park. It was the perfect time of year to go to miss all the crowds and we never had to wait longer then a few minutes at any ride. Which made it a spectacular trip. Unfortunately the weather didn't cooperate very much and we were in winter clothes all week. No winter tan to be found here. But at least it wasn't snowing.

Today I finished a project. I've been so into teaching myself how to sew lately. I love finding cute little projects to make for my friends. This one is for a special friend to just randomly is very kind and generous so I thought I would surprise her with a little gift. It's not perfect, but it is made with love and I know she will see that. I made her a knitting needle holder. The first picture is of it flat. There are 3 layers of different size pockets to hold several needles. The the top fold down and you role it up to store or carry your projects without loosing the needles. I'll ask her for some feed back before I make the next one and see if I can perfect the pockets before the next one. Isn't the fabric so pretty. Most of it is Moda and made from a few fat quarters and scraps from other projects.

I found another use for my Clip it Up Jumbo. Here I draped it with fabric and it's the perfect higth to take photos of small projects.

Brave Girls Club Soul Restoration Projects

Today I started gathering supplies to make my kit for the Brave Girls Club Soul Restorations Class. My first project is the bag. I made 2 bags, the green one is for my friend Ellen who I also made a pin cushion to match. And the other one is mine. If you should need one for your class shoot me an email and I would be happy to make one for you if you pay for the materials ($5.) and shipping to you.

One more for today, this one is for my friend Andrea.

I'm so excited for this class. I can't wait for it to start even though I'll be on vacation for a few days at the beginning. I'll jump right back in as soon as I get home.

PTI Princess Banner Challenge/LCOM final challenge

I used the cricut and die cut the angels and Peace letters. Then tied them with tule and added some paint and gliter to give dimension to the angels.
It's been a slow blogging the past weeks as the holiday festivities took over. And this week I've decided to take a break from paper and do a sewing project. I've started piecing a scarf. I love how it's turning out and will be back with the finished product hopefully before vacation.

Then the second week of January I will be heading to sunny Florida with my daughter. I can't wait for the warmer weather. Thanks so much for stopping by and I'll get back to posting much more after the holidays.

Yesterday afternoon I had this kind of odd message from Dena whom is the community coordinator at Webster's Pages. She asked for my phone number, which I was more then happy to share. Thinking there may have been an issue with my order. So I sent her my number and shortly after she called. (I love being able to put a voice to a name, and her's is so sweet!) Anyway, she asked me if I would Guest DT for February! I'm drop dead, jumping up and down, beaming with excitement!

Not only is it Webster's Pages, the most absolute drop dead gorgeous! Webster's now has STAMPS and digi elements that are so easy to use but I will also get to work with their brand new mid-winter release. You can see how GORGEOUS it is Webster's Pages Blog where there are a few samples up. This line will be available for purchase for Christmas! (and ships January 3rd!)
